How Do I Cover Up Pimples with Makeup?

Let’s be honest — covering up pimples with makeup can be really tricky. Whether it’s redness that won’t go away or spots that keep peeking through, it can feel like nothing works. But don’t worry! Here are my go-to methods for covering blemishes while still keeping your makeup looking fresh and natural.

1. Concealer – Your First Line of Defense

Concealer is the first step to targeting those spots, but how you apply it really matters. Instead of using the built-in applicator (which can spread bacteria), use a clean brush to dab the product onto the blemish. Then, gently blend around the edges — not over the top — to avoid making the area look redder or cakey.

2. BB Cream – A Lightweight Alternative

If you don’t want to go in with heavy foundation, BB cream is a great option. It’s lighter on the skin, evens out your complexion, and gives a natural glow while still offering light coverage. Applying it gently with a sponge or your fingers can help smooth everything out without clogging your pores.

3. Powder – The Finishing Touch

To set everything in place and reduce shine, powder is your best friend. Start with a compact (pressed) powder to target specific areas, then lightly dust loose powder on top to lock it in. This layering technique helps your makeup stay put and blurs the look of blemishes even more.

Final Thoughts
Pimples are totally normal — we all get them! But sometimes, covering them up gives you that extra bit of confidence to take on the day. These steps help me feel more in control of my skin and makeup, and I hope they help you too.
